The HR specialist serves as a Human Resources team member and is responsible for providing specialized assistance in the areas of classification and compensation for theUniversity of Tennessee System. This position will assist with the design,implementation and maintenance of market basedpay structures, the development and maintenance of jobfamily descriptions and other compensation/human resources related projects.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Classification and compensation studies
Review and analyze requests for new positions,reclassifications, and other compensation actions to determine appropriateclassification and compensation levels. Confer with managers and other stakeholders to make soundrecommendations consistent with university policy using classification factors,internal and external comparisons and salary survey data. Conduct and participatein salary surveys to assess local, regional, and national labor markets asnecessary or requested.
Collaborate on a variety of projects,including compensation program design, analysis, and implementation. Conductresearch from various sources including other institutions for synthesis,reporting or providing to leadership. Provides analytical support and dataanalysis on projects and human resource metrics.
Provide Consultative services, foster teamworkand communication
Serve as a resource for the University of Tennessee Systemby providing appropriate, accurate and timely guidance on a varietyof human resourceissues; research questions and problems to ensure accurate and thoroughanswers. Provide counsel to employees as needed. Assists in other functionalareas of human needed. Actively contribute as a team member to address concernswithin Human Resources and across the University community. Encourage andfacilitate open communication. Identify and communicate ideas for processimprovement to ensure efficiency. Keep supervisor apprisedof sensitive issuesin a timely manner.
Data analytics and metrics
Maintainselectronic tracking log(s), process position transactions in the human resourceinformation system (IRIS). Work with the IRIS team and IT staff to ensure theHRIS system meets compensation needs and is updated to reflect changes tosalary structures and other compensation related elements. Collaborate with humanresources partners to develop and document consistent processes and metrics toassess effectiveness of programs.
