Responsible for administration and coordination of multiple functions in the Human Resources (HR) office, with emphasis on employee onboarding, wellness, staff professional development, and policy administration. Support University-wide HR programs, policies and processes and assist supervisors and other employees with employee relations matters. Assist in all other HR functions as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee the final implementation and ongoing use of the University's employee onboarding platform, working closely with the Office and Employment Coordinator.
Facilitate the training, communication and delivery of key HR initiatives (i.e. legal issues, harassment awareness, performance management, manager's training, etc.) personally and through outside facilitators or agencies. Continually evaluate the effectiveness of programs and adjust them accordingly.
Counsel supervisors on performance management to appropriately recognize and address performance issues; provide guidance on implementing performance improvement plans and/or other corrective measures.
Investigate work-related conflicts as required and provide guidance and recommendations for positive conflict resolution.
Serve as the University's Deputy Title IX Coordinator for faculty and staff, working closely with the principal and other deputy coordinators to ensure compliance with the law. Participate in Title IX meetings and University initiatives.
Serve as administrator for the University's EduRisk learning portal, which includes managing users, evaluating available programs and providing reporting on request. Respond to requests for additional University-wide training.
As needed, participate as the Salve representative at the Rhode Island Higher Education Training Consortium (RIHETC) meetings. Network with other colleges and universities on possible consortiums for training purposes, speakers/facilitators used, best practices, etc.
Oversee the new employee orientation program for staff. Evaluate effectiveness and develop recommendations for an improved new hire experience. Work with the Office and Employment Coordinator to plan new employee orientation events. Continually assess effectiveness of program.
Responsible for the employee Wellness program. Develop and communicate a comprehensive annual program of activities and events. In collaboration with the Associate Director for HR/Benefits, assist with the annual Employee Benefits and Wellness Fair. Serve as contact for the Momentum+Wellness platform and Wellness Rewards program.
Maintain staff handbook assuring all laws and policies are accurate and up-to-date and on the HR website. Assist with policy development, as needed.
Responsible for the monthly HR newsletter, gathering information, creating the template, and distributing the newsletter electronically.
Provide timely and accurate updates for the HR website in relation to training, wellness and other resources.
Conduct research and analyze data on any projects assigned by the Human Resources department management or President's Cabinet.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the Director of HR and others within all other office functions as required. This could include recruitment, special projects and events, employment issues, benefits, etc.
Participate as a team player in keeping the daily operation of the HR office running smoothly.
Any projects or HR-related tasks as assigned by the Director of HR, VP for Administration/CFO or the President.
Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or related field with at least 3 years of experience in an HR office in a generalist capacity required. Master's degree strongly preferred. Previous experience in higher educational HR office is preferred. Affiliation with HR programs and organizations. Certification in one of the following is preferred: Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP).
Ability to work with minimal supervision, have excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills a must. Working knowledge of applicable federal and state laws required.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with University policies.
Ability to professionally and effectually present information and respond to questions from diverse groups of managers, staff, faculty and the general public. Must be proficient with MS Windows software, (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
