The HR Shared Services team reports directly to the VP of Finance, and is responsible for providing human resources strategy and support to the entire UW Finance organization.Finance Shared Services has an outstanding opportunity for an HR Business Partner 1. This position will have HR responsibility for a designated client group within UW Finance, and will be responsible for supporting recruiting, performance management, employee relations, labor relations issues, compensation analysis, and all other aspects of Human Resources. This position works directly with the UW Finance Director of HR and central HR business office within the UW to ensure all personnel activities are handles in a compliant and approved manner.Responsibilities:Recruiting : Support assigned Managers/teams in recruiting efforts, to include job posting language development, writing/editing job descriptions, working with central UW HR and UW Finance HR colleagues to coordinate job postings, sourcing candidates, assisting with phone screens and reference checks, developing interview questions, and assisting with finalizing job offers.Onboarding/Offboarding: Work closely UW Finance HR colleagues to develop/improve onboarding procedures for new employees. Meet with new employees in-person on first day of employment. Conduct routine exit interviews with separating employees, and ensure employees separation is smooth and efficient.Employee Relations: Work with Managers as issues arise to develop action plans, performance improvement plans, documentation for dismissals/layoff. Assist Managers to analyze need for re-organization and facilitate re-org processes as needed. Work with HR Director on more complex employee relations issues as needed.General HR support: Complete additional HR projects, such as compensation analysis, labor reports, meeting facilitation, and organizational development activities.Leave Administration: Work with Managers to coordinate FMLA leaves, support requests for disability accommodation, and ensure transactions are entered accurately into Workday.As a UW employee, you will enjoy generous benefits and work/life programs. For detailed information on Benefits for this position, click here.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, business, communications or related field.4 - 5 years professional experience in the following areas:Experience with supporting recruiting, interviewing, and other HR processes.Ability to develop and maintain sound HR and general administration processes, aligned to with UW's policies and proceduresExcellent oral and written communications skills; demonstrated and committed to provide excellent customer serviceStrong knowledge and experience in Microsoft products including: Outlook/Exchange, Word, Excel, Visio, Power Point, and SharePointExperience juggling diverse work assignments that range in duration and time sensitivity, with frequent interruptions and emergent prioritiesMust be exceptionally well organized, detail oriented and have excellent follow through.Proven ability to work proactively and independently with minimal supervision. Ability to handle sensitive issues with confidentiality and diplomacy.
