Oversees Human Resources business operations of faculty and staff in the College of Medicine (COM) by facilitating and providing services in the areas of personnel management/employee relations, recruitment, conflict resolution, and training and development in conjunction with the central Human Resources department. In addition, participates in personnel budgeting and reporting.
Serves as point of contact for COM's HR related questions, including employment and all faculty and staff position postings.
Counsels employees and supervisors on performance and personnel issues, including performance management, training and development.
Works with UH administration on HR-related issues including disciplinary actions and leave of absence.
Supports recruitment processes by creating job descriptions for positions, resume screening, coordination of interviews, finalizing offers, HRIS maintenance, and employee on-boarding in conjunction with central Human Resources and Faculty Affairs.
Prepares new employee onboarding checklist and terminations through the online employee system.
Works with College Business Administrator to determine adequate office locations and/or space for new employees.
Maintains departmental compliance for mandated trainings for new and current employees.
Coordinates with Faculty Affairs on all faculty appointments.
Serves as the department liaison with UH HR divisions (recruitment, benefits, compliance, employee relations, and compensation).
Coordinates maintenance of all employee data. Manages and process entries for employees, including new hires, vacancies, and all types of leave.
Manages labor cost distributions for federal grants and other funding sources.
Works directly with the Administrator, Finance contact, Grants contact, and Faculty to prepare and/or coordinate required personnel budgets for proposals and projects, including proposal text and required supporting documents.
Manages personnel-related reports required for the various State, Federal and private grants and contracts awarded to College of Medicine.
Participates in the preparation and monitoring of the annual fiscal budget.
Communicates UH and College of Medicine policy to faculty and staff.
Oversees credentialing applications for faculty and residents as necessary for clinical affiliations.
Maintains the security and confidentially of relevant documents and information.
Performs other job related duties as required.
Bachelors and 7 years experience
Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Masters preferred.Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related professional experience in the medical school or health care field.
